Florida Trip - November 2014

Back in November Sam had a great break in Sarasota, Florida. Three words sum it up, sun, food and fishing. The plan this time was to fish the grass flats for Redfish, Spotted Trout, Flounder and what ever else might turn up. At this time of the year the water is not the warmest so pair of waders are essential if you plan on staying out on the water for any length of time. When wading the flats you have to keep your tackle as simple as possible, some hooks / jig heads, a few packs of Gulp Shrimp  and some soft plastic are all you really need.

From the get go on the first week the Trout and Flounder were plentiful with the odd small Red fish showing up from time to time. However on the second week the weather changed and really effected the fishing with high winds blowing most of the water out of the bay. The third week had better much better tides and the fishing picked up again with plenty of good Flounder, Red fish, Trout and a few Snook. It also threw up the best fish of the trip, a nice Red Fish of 75cm.
