Flounder on lures...

We were back targeting flounder on lures again this weekend, Sam headed to his local harbour in Bray while I headed a little further south to Arklow. They're quite different types of marks and required slightly different approaches but both marks threw up a few flounder all the same. Sam fished a 2" Berkley Gulp Fish Fry rigged carolina style and slowly twitched along the bottom, where as I chose to fish a curl-tailed grub on a jig-head, gently bounced along the bottom. It's a method that has worked for me at this particular mark many times before and is effectively the same set-up and technique as I use for my perch fishing. To be honest I'm a little surprised that more people don't target flounder in this way, as they give a pretty good account of themselves and are lots of fun to catch on the light gear. Anyway I think its safe to say that we'll be having another couple of sessions after them before the year is out.
