Twaite Shad - St Mullins

I took a trip down to Wexford last weekend to catch up with my mate Ronan, do a spot of fishing and hopefully catch a bass or two. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas and the fishing conditions had really deteriorated so we had a bit of a rethink and decided to head inland in search of some shelter from the high winds and perhaps even a shad or two.

It wasn't a bad session in the end, we caught a few little perch a small Brown Trout while we were waiting for the tide and whilst there wasn't huge numbers of shad in the river we both still managed to hook and lose a few. Only one of my fish made it to the net but it was a nice specimen sized fish of 2lb 7oz.
